Weight - 227.8 lb. (231.2 in clothes) Rec Center weight in clothes 230.0, which means that on my new scales, I probably started out at 235.2 lb.
Weight Lost - 7.5 lb. in 13 days
Body Fat - 56.5% (the new scales measure this all over the place)
Others: 36.1% water, 4.8 bone density
Total Calories Eaten - 1076 (Yeah, I know, I should have eaten more)
Total Exercise/Activity Calories Earned - 435
Calorie Balance - 612 left to eat at 2lb loss/week rate
Weight Loss Rate Today - 3.2 lb loss/week
Exercise - Precor efx576i Elliptical, 30 min, 2.12 miles, 3710 strides, 331.0 calories, crossramp 1, resistance 5, alternated forwards & backwards every 5 min.
Okay, I was going to post pics of the Rec Center today, but it's midnight and I have run out of time. I need to get my rear in bed. Instead, I will post my cholesterol score. Last week when I was at Sam and Emma's checkup, I asked the P.A. to order a cholesterol test. The nurse called with the results today. My overall number is 305. HORRID!!! It's supposed to be 150 or less! But my "good" cholesterol is 67, and it should be at least 40. The fat in my blood is 96, and the good range is 40 to 150. My "bad" cholesterol is 218, but should be less than 160. The P.A. recommended medication, but I am going to continue my healthy eating changes and exercise, and then get tested again in three months. If my numbers are still bad, I will probably start taking cholesterol medication. I'm hoping the exercise, drastic cut in saturated fats and cholesterol, and the increase in fiber, will help my overall cholesterol, so I can be a lot healthier.

228.2 - New Scales
Weight - 228.2 lb. (231.4 in clothes, similar to Rec Center)
Weight Lost - 6.3 lb. in 12 days
Body Fat - 50.5% (Yeah, it's bad, but that's part of the point of this whole thing - getting rid of the fat!)
Others: 36.1% water, 5.4 bone density
Total Calories Eaten - 1667
Total Exercise/Activity Calories Earned - 576
Calorie Balance - 183 left to eat at 2lb loss/week rate
Weight Loss Rate Today - 2.4 lb loss/week
Exercise - I did my own workout on my Firm Wave, using hand weights 3 & 5 lbs., 30 min.
I finally broke down and got my own scales. I was tired of having to run to the rec center just to weigh myself, so I got a new set. From now on, I'll be reporting the weight I am first thing in the morning in my undies. Plus, the scales measure % of body fat, and a few other things. I don't know how accurate the measurements are, but at least they will show changes over time.
10pm - Man, that Wave workout kicked my tail in the long run today. I took the kids for a little walk after dinner, and when I got back, I sat down to watch tv. The longer I sat there, it seemed like my energy just slowly leaked out, and after an hour, it was like I couldn't move. It wasn't a sleepy kind of tired, just absolutely desire to move. I think this tells me that my body was challenged enough by adding weights to a step workout, that I'll get some muscle growth. I may go out and buy some heavier hand weights.

232.0 - Just Say No To Cheesecake
Weight - 232.0 lb.
Weight Lost - 5.5 lb. in 11 days
Total Calories Eaten - 1118
Total Exercise/Activity Calories Earned - 70
Calorie Balance - 247 left to eat at 2lb loss/week rate
Weight Loss Rate Today - 2.5 lb loss/week
Since I don't go to the Rec Center on Sundays, I think from now on I'll just put my weight from the previous day in here. Also, my calories were low today because it was Fast Sunday, so I ate less than usual, but added a few extra goodies, like a small piece of the birthday cake we had today for Emma's and Gil's little family birthday party. I used a boxed mix, but then only used egg whites, and I took the usual 1/3 cup of oil, and only used 2 Tbsp. of oil, and applesauce for the rest. Next time, I think I'll even take out the oil all together. I also made yummy, the-real-deal cheesecake for Gil, and after putting in the ingredients in the Recipe Builder on myfooddiary.com, I discovered that a slice (1/12 of the cheesecake) is 633 calories and 42 grams of fat, and even one ounce is 99 calories and 6.6 g of fat. Yikes! I resisted today, but maybe if I rack up some exercise points tomorrow, I'll indulge in a few bites.

Sorry, this posted a little late. Friday night was just one of those off nights. This day was more off the beaten path from the last week. I still ate a pretty low number of calories, but had a higher percentage of fats and sugars because of the popcorn I ate at the movies and all the fresh fruit I had during the day. Also, my activity level was lower than usual. I made this batch of cookies, E.T. Munchies (it has Reese's Pieces in it, E.T.'s fav candy, thus the name), and I made myself eat only one cookie (it was 112 calories!), and I was starving around 9pm. I think it's because I hadn't tallied my calories for the day, and was afraid that I would go over, and so I only had the cookie for dinner. But I'm telling you, my body was screaming at me at 9pm, so I gave it a healthy salad and some rice left over from a few nights ago. Surprisingly, I still came in under 1600 calories.

232.0
Weight - 232.0 lb.
Weight Lost - 5.5 lb. in 8 days
Total Calories Eaten - 1304
Total Exercise Calories Earned - 941
Calorie Balance - 932 left to eat at 2lb loss/week rate
Weight Loss Rate Today - 3.9lb loss/week
Exercise - Elliptical Precor efx556, 30 min. 2.33 miles, 3758 strides, 389.7 cal, resistance #6, 17 min forward 13 min backward
On the elliptical, you can stride forwards, which works the front of your legs, or backwards, which works the back of your legs. I hadn't done this in over a year, so I challenged myself to work a neglected muscle group. It was a hard workout! I was gritting my teeth and huffing and puffing!
I had a first today. I took the kids to the cast party for the children's summer play at the college theater, and the food was buffet, probably my biggest food weakness. It's just something about all that variety makes me go nuts, and eat two or three times what I usually do.
But I knew this ahead of time, and planned accordingly. I knew there would be chips, so I checked the calorie counter ahead of time, to see what the deal was, so I wouldn't overeat. I got there, took a step back, and just thought about how I was going to report my calories, and I decided I didn't want to hassle with the guessing on the various dishes. Also, I didn't want to mess up my groove, and I thought about how good it would feel LATER knowing I didn't overindulge. I knew I was low on fiber and fruits and veggies, so I just chose some fresh fruit and veggies, and skipped the rest. I ate my little allowance of four Doritos Nacho Cheese chips, and that was it.
But, I had a good dinner of pasta and my homemade spaghetti sauce, and even indulged in some Kroger's (at Smith's) Light ice cream. It was acutally pretty good! I was surprised. I've had the fat-free sugar-free stuff, and it is just NASTY. You might as well suck it up and eat the real stuff, rather than trying to choke down the devoid-of-any-taste-or-pleasure ice cream, but now that I've tried light, I might have some more often.

Yep, gotta eat more. I can tell, and not just because of the math. I did feel pretty hungry at the end of the night tonight, so I had a small glass of skim milk. I don't want to sink myself by eating too little, and then my body stages a million-people-strong protest. And maybe it's just that I've had such a busy week that it has distracted me from any major signals my body might have been giving me. But I did seem to have enough energy, despite what the math was saying.
My sister Sue came in to town to night to see my teenagers in the local college summer theatre play for kids in the community. She and I have funny, sometimes contradictory personalities. We are totally lax about some things (we are not exactly the most anal house keepers), but we love crunching data and working the math. I think that's why I have clicked so instantly with this whole calorie-counting thing. I love inputting the data throughout the day, and seeing how the math is working out. I'll think, "Oooh! I'm doing good! I can eat some more!" or I look at the balances and think, "Wow, I bet the scales will go down again tomorrow!" And so far, that's proven to be the case. I know some conventional wisdom is to throw out the scales and just see how your clothes start to fit better, but the little math rewards everyday, even throughout the day, help to keep me motivated. It's that quirky data-cruncher who lives inside.
Man, I worked out on my Firm Wave this morning, and it Kicked. My. Tush. I was so tired by the end, I don't think I've worked out that hard in a while. Made me feel like a big, dorky, uncoordinated wussie. My kids were watching me, and my teenage girl said something along the lines of, "Mom, you look really bad." Yep, I'm like spastic-dancer Elaine on Seinfeld, almost. But I got to thinking later in the day, after several hours of cleaning the house (thus the high number for exercise today) and a hot shower, that it could be good to keep trying this out several times a week, breaking down the harder, more complicated moves. I'd get better over time, and that would give me a boost in the long run to overcome that kind of challenge.

Weight - 233.5 lb. Yippee!
Total Calories Eaten - 1216
Total Exercise/Activity Calories Earned - 928
Calorie Balance - 1016 left to eat at 2lb loss/week rate
Weight Loss Rate Today - 4lb loss/week
Exercise - Precor Elliptical efx556, 10 min., 0.78 miles, 133.0 cal, resistance #6, and then I swam in the pool for 30 minutes, doing 16 round laps (32 lengths) which is 1/2 mile.
Believe it or not, I think I gotta eat more. The nutritional data from myfooddiary.com is telling me I'm not eating enough fat to process fat-soluable vitamins. I have plenty of energy, except for about an hour right after lunch. Maybe that means I need to add a morning snack.
I'm just so busy! I have tried to be productive every day and get lots of things done, not wasting time watching tv or reading books. And I've gotten up at about seven every morning, with no more naps during the day, so I'm back on a regular sleep schedule. But five kids... Sheesh! When am I ever going to get this Medical Transcription thing done? That's probably an indicator that even if I did have it done and got my certificate, when would I ever have the time to actually work? I don't know. I guess I just have to keep going, keep paying our tithing and hope for a miracle. Sammy got his shots today, and went to bed at 9:30 tonight, so I better get myself in bed, soon, too.

234.0
Weight - 234.0     No. Freaking. Kidding. That's 3.5 pounds lost in five days!
Man, this recipe builder is really, really fun. It helps me try out new recipes and tweak the ingredients, making healthy substitutes, so I can see how to bring down the calories and increase the nutrition in my food.
I'm pretty happy with a small menu of meals to choose from. I could have a few choices for breakfast and lunch, and be pretty happy. And frankly, I'm not all that picky about dinner, but I keep things rotated just so everyone else in the house doesn't get bored. It's not that I don't like variety, it's just that I don't like wasting a lot of time in the kitchen.
Total Calories Eaten - 1195. Okay, I know that sounds nuts, and frankly, if you had told me a week ago I could eat that few calories, I would have said you were out of your mind. But seriously, substituting things made with whole wheat flour instead of white flour, almost eliminating simple sugars, eating lowfat proteins, and adding tons of fresh fruit and veggies has allowed me to eat nearly the same amount of bulk as I did before, but I bet it's cut over half the calories I used to eat.
Total Exercise Calories Allowance - 535
Exercise - Precor efx556 Elliptical - 30 min, 2.27 miles, 3603 strides, 375.8 cal, resistance #6
Calorie Balance - 646 calories left to eat, 3.3 lb loss a week rate

Recipe Builder
It can be a steep learning curve, using the Recipe Builder on MyFoodDiary to figure out the serving sizes for all my homemade recipes, and adding them to the Fridge section. I have to measure and weigh everything, then do lots of math to figure out the relative serving sizes after adding up all the ingredients, sometimes weighing or measuring the entire batch to get to the correct serving size in relation to the nutrition of the whole recipe. But I think after a month or so, I'll be able to do all my daily calorie counting with just a few clicks. But, being a data manipulation person, it's a process I enjoy.
I think this calorie counting business is really paying off, because I can look at my total calories for the day, and weigh them against my calorie allowance, and feel good about the direction I'm going. I felt kind of hopeless, even just a week ago, thinking about how I'm still stuck in a size 22, and wanting to break that 200 pound barrier. But now, based on the math reports I'm getting, I'm pretty sure I can break it by my birthday in October. Sweet! I think I'll get an awesome outfit for my birthday, a great way to celebrate losing the weight.
Total Calories Eaten - 1528
Total Exercise Calories - 295 (Just for running around the house with the kids and doing light housework. Strictly speaking, I don't exercise on Sunday, but I'll probably always wrack up just a few points doing some little extra something in the course of my day with five kids)
Calorie Balance: -85 (meaning I still could have eaten 85 calories)
